Background


Great Eastern Life Assurance is one of the largest life insurance companies. The website did not list well for insurance-related search terms, and they were not getting the targeted traffic that search engines can generate.

Objective


Revamp the Great Eastern Life website to optimize if for search engine effectiveness. (We also redesigned the site to be more user friendly, to address the needs of the different departments within the company, for more effective upsell and cross - but that is another story).

Mechanics


Implemented a website design that considered all the major search engine optimization factors. We made sure that the pages had 'spider-friendly' links, had sufficient content within each page and avoided pitfalls like dynamic links, frames etc, which thwart a search engine's attempt to catalogue a website properly.

We researched keywords that were commonly used to search for insurance websites, rewrote the copy for the entire website to be more user-friendly and keyword rich. This exercise is crucial because search engines evaluate a webpage's importance by the type and quantity of keywords in the page.

To help the client keep cost in check, we created the initial website templates and the client used in-house resources to build out the entire site, resulting in an output that was effective and economical.

Results


Great Eastern Life Assurance's site, www.lifeisgreat.com.sg secures top positions in search engine listings for life insurance, home insurance, insurance protection.

For the term 'insurance' it gets the most number of clicks* amongst all insurance sites, without paying a single cent for these clicks.
